Emptying out the Cupboards

Typically, we have organized, homecooked meals every night.  As much as I love cooking, there are those nights where it seems we don't have anything in the house and don't feel like cooking.  So, we end up eating whatever we have and just go with it.  Try it sometime; it's good to be flexible and not have a "planned" dinner (especially if you're Type A like me).  On nights like this, Matt's go-to is always chocolate chip Belgian waffles or pancakes.  Our cupboards were so bare last week, that even chocolate chips were scare (I thought he was going to have a meltdown).  Fortunately, I convinced Matt to use some fresh raspberries from the farmers' market as a substitute, topped with Great Aunt Esther's homemade maple syrup.  Much to my surprise, they were tasty! I don't like pancakes but managed to force a few down.  All in all, emptying out the cupboards wasn't half bad.
