I'm in a busy season right now at work with multiple events. I've learned that working several 14 hour days in a row is draining. Rewarding, yes, but exhausting. I am reminded that I absolutely love my job and the organized chaos that comes with it!
Our home has hosted multiple visitors this month. We love having company! My parents came twice the past few weeks, and Matt's parents arrived the day after my parents left last week. We also have a permanent visitor for the summer - my sister! Karissa moved in last week and will be working here this summer. It is SO much fun to have her around! We've already been on a few family bike rides and wind down to Gilmore Girls in the evenings. Matt now has the theme song memorized and is hooked on the show. Haha. Props to him for giving it a chance.
When we're not working or trying to find time to relax, yard work has kept us busy! My dad helped cut down some trees and clean up the shoreline, while my mom taught me how to trim hedges and landscaping. We are so thankful for them, their hard work, and the compost pile being two miles away. The next project in coming weeks - fixing the "old" dock.
As spring slowly arrived, we have had multiple surprises in the yard. I had no idea we had a flowering tree in the backyard, and it was absolutely beautiful in full bloom! The red maple in the front yard is pretty and interesting but not at all what I was expecting!

I planted a little garden and a few flower pots too. It was so rewarding to pick fresh basil for dinner this weekend. Looking forward to seeing things grow, and trying to be patient in the meantime!

Our fifth niece was born last weekend, and she is absolutely precious! Violet Mercy was born on Sunday, May 22. Congratulations to Shereen and Lynn and big sisters Ellianna, Madeline, and Abigail. We are a proud uncle and aunt to six wonderful nieces and nephews. The family just keeps getting bigger and bigger!

Matt's playing softball in a Thursday night league. He is beginning to realize that he isn't as young as he once was, while I miss the famous "Fennie" burgers from Fenwood, Wisconsin.
Actually there are a lot of things I miss about our small hometown. You could call me a little "county" homesick I suppose. As spring changes to summer, we reminsce summer memories from years past with a smile and a laugh, knowing that this summer more memories will be made to last.
Wishing you a wonderful summer ahead!

Amanda, we had a red sugar maple in our front yard at our first house and LOVED it come August/September. So much, in fact, that we planted one in our front yard in this house, too!
