Breakfast for the Season

The arrival of spring means adjusting our eats accordingly.  The days of hot oatmeal have passed, and we have been indulging on Breakfast Cookie Dough Cereal lately.  My friend, Danielle introduced me to it, and the original recipe can be found at http://fitnessista.com/2010/08/serious-cereal/.  It is absolutely delicious, so if you are looking for something to add to your breakfast options, try it!  In short, the revised recipe is below.  There's also a raw version of the recipe, but I don't have the energy or time to attempt it.

Ingredients
1/3-1/2 cup oats (I buy the organic oats from Trader Joe's)
1/2 scoop protein powder (prefer TJ's vanilla protein powder)
cinnamon
pinch of sea salt
a little vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoons nut butter (love TJ's almond butter)
3/4-1 cup milk (we use vanilla almond milk)
fruit toppings (or whatever you are craving!)
*The recipe also calls for a sweetner, but we don't think it's necessary.

Directions
Mix oats, protein powder, cinnamon, sea salt, and vanilla extract in a bowl.  Add 1-2 tablespoons of a nut butter and use a spoon to break up until the mixture resembles a crumbly cookie dough.  Top with milk and other toppings as desired.

Gone are the days of boxed cereal in the Kramer house.  Seriously.  We feast on this, different types of granola, grapefruit, and veggies/eggs.  We have really tried to adjust our eating habits to be healthier.  For those of you who knew Matt and his eating habits before, you'd be impressed.  He's made a lot of progress the last year.
