Mt. Rainier National Park

The Pacific Northwest is our favorite area in the country, and its beauty has a way of capturing us. Lately, we have been talking a lot at church and in small group about how the pleasures and enjoyments of this world are just a foretaste of the eternal pleasures yet to come. The Lord has given us these gifts to enjoy as ultimately they point us back to Him. So friends, we enjoy to the fullest. Traveling. The outdoors. And the fellowship that comes with both. But most of all, we enjoy our Creator in all these things as they are a reflection of Him and the place where all the beauty comes from.

With that being said, this was our first visit to Mt. Rainier National Park and boy was it incredible. As recommended by my friend Sarah, we spent the day in the Sunrise area, soaking up the beauty. The weather was cool and comfortable, it was fairly quiet for a holiday weekend, and we left refreshed and completely in awe.

Summerland Trail + part of the Wonderland Trail (~10.5 miles round trip)

1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

Burrough's Mountain Trail via the Sunrise Trail on the way back (~6.5 miles round trip).
This hike was according to my friend Sarah, "ridiculously mind-blowing." Oh how right she was. There are no other words for it. #northwestisbest completely lives up to its claim.

The view from First Burroughs.

Oh darling, let's be adventurers...

The views from Second Burroughs.

The mountains shake before him
The demons run and flee
At the mention of the name King of Majesty
There is no power in hell
Or any who can stand
Before the power and the presence of the great I AM
Hallelujah, holy, holy
God Almighty, the great I AM
Who is worthy, none beside Thee
God Almighty, the great I AM

Hiking back via the Sunrise Trail.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
